Just Life Sciences are seeking a client facing Business Development Manager, for a Global Pharma company who are expanding through acquisition and strong Demographic Growth.
We are looking for a candidate who will further develop existing clients whilst also winning new business.
This is a remote role, yet there will be 50% of travel to current and new clients premises, as well as the expected Trade Shows etc
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Purpose
New business development for both brand new customers and existing strategic customers
? Primary focus on selling analytical and formulation development services in the Pharmaceutical Sector
? Accountability for meeting targets for the business in that sub segment globally, including generics and innovator products and small biotech and large pharma
? Build key relationships and ways of working with the Prescription and CHC BD and Sales teams to triage and qualify leads. Take responsibility for developing the opportunities where they exist for global customers
? Identification of leads through direct business development activities outside of the Group's lead generation activities
? Through consultative selling approaches, identify opportunities to meet customer needs and scope solution with relevant scientists and colleagues using your own scientific knowledge and understanding of the market
? Work with colleagues in marketing departments to define message for campaigns in strategic growth areas
? Maintain visibility over competitor and customer activity to ensure we can retain our leading positions or gain market share as appropriate, including feeding inputs to operational teams for services and capacity requirements
? Prepare scientific proposals/contracts including use of value-based pricing and other relevant business models (working closely with Director of Business Development) as appropriate for the project/customer, including opportunities to create longer-term revenue streams for value-added or proprietary services
? Secure high value and profitable business to contribute to hitting financial targets for business unit
? Manage select key accounts to further develop opportunities within existing customer base
? Attend key conferences and trade shows, Visit customers and prospects where appropriate - EXPERIENCE
? Extensive experience in B2B sales, account management or business development in a relevant field e.g. analytical services, pharmaceutical contract research, development and/or manufacturing – essential
? Experience in the negotiation of contracts including MSAs and contracts based on both fee-forservice and non-fee-for-service (e.g. milestone/royalty based) business models - preferable
? Experience and understanding of the development process and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical products - SKILLS
? Strong commercial acumen to make appropriate judgements on pricing strategies and negotiation tactics to achieve maximum but appropriate profitability for the Group
on a project-by-project basis
? Ability to learn new scientific and technical information and relate it to other customer projects in a different context
? Ability to speak confidently and credibly on scientific topics with customers and colleagues to a level appropriate for a services based business
? Proactive and organised approach, able to exert influence over those whom they do not have direct authority and proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
? Natural ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
? Excellent customer related experience and client facing skills
? Ability to communicate and negotiate with personnel of all levels, internally and externally ? Flexibility in adjusting to a rapidly evolving workload and remaining calm under pressure
